Location

The Galactic Nuclei in the Cosmological Context - GNC 2024 meeting - will take place in Szczecin, which is the largest city of West Pomerania, located close to the Baltic Sea and the German border. With the population of nearly 400 000 people, it is the transportation, industrial, educational, and the tourist center of the region. It is located on the Oder river, southwest of the Dąbie Lake, and south of the Szczecin lagoon.

Szczecin has been a major seaport, playing an important role for the transportation of goods into Poland and formerly also into East Germany and Czechoslovakia.

The University of Szczecin was established in 1984 and with its current number of students exceeding 30 000, it is a major educational and research center of the region.

Venue

The GNC24 meeting will take place at the Doctoral School of the University of Szczecin. The building at the Mickiewicza Street is located in the very center of Szczecin, being located close to museums, sights, hotels, many restaurants, and supermarkets. It provides modern audiovisual equipment and excellent Wi-Fi connection. The venue provides much needed flexibility, including the possibility of organising a hybrid event, with part of the participants connected remotely.

Travel

Szczecin is easily reachable by air from Warsaw. The planes land at the Solidarity Szczecin–Goleniów Airport , which is located about 45 km from the Szczecin city center.
Szczecin can also be reached by trains from Warsaw. You can search PKP intercity for convenient connections.
Szczecin can also be reached from Germany, e.g. by arriving at Berlin. Then you can search for train connections via German Railways, typically with a change in Angermünde, Pasewalk or Rzepin.

Accommodation

You can search for convenient hotels in Szczecin at booking.com or at airbnb. Comfortable options are hotels Courtyard or Moxy by Marriott, which are located in the city center (Brama Portowa) close to the tram stops and the main railway station. We can also recommend the hotels ibis Styles Szczecin Stare Miasto and Campanile .
